She strongly feels that a child’s home should be their safe haven. Mayemona has a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from the University of Memphis. During her studies at the University of Memphis Mayemona completed over 20 hours of social work courses and enjoyed them all. Mayemona decided this would be a great area to impact the lives of families. She has worked for the Department of Human Services as an eligibility counselor and for a state agency, TNCSA, as a case manager. Mayemona was first introduced to nurturing parenting in 2012 when she accepted the position as Parent Educator for the Center for Children and Parents at Le Bonheur. Being a Nurturing Parenting Specialist is very rewarding to Mayemona Franklin and she has a passion for her work with parents knowing she supports them to be the best for their children. Mayemona states, “If you are a parent and want to be the change in the world, one should look not only directly at themselves, but also to the children they are raising.”
