Tom
Naki, M.A., a Nurturing Parenting Program Trainer/ Consultant,
was born into a pure 100% Hawaiian (which is rare) family
of 5 brothers and 4 sisters. After graduating from high
school and working for awhile, Tom (or Koma as he'd like
to be called) pursued his bachelor's degree in Sociology
and Criminology from Chaminade University, then obtained
his Masters in Public Health Education at the University
of Hawaii.
Tom's advocacy role for children began in 1968 with the
ad-hoc committee for the protection of children in child
abuse and neglect and has broadened into the Criminal Justice
Victim/Prosecutor's Office.
Tom continues to work with incarcerated fathers within
and outside the prison domestic violence system. Tom has
designed and written a culturally relevant psycho-educational
domestic violence behavior management curriculum for abusive
men and conducts workshops for incarcerated fathers in Hawaii,
New Zealand, and the mainland U.S.A.
