Teresa Cowan

Teresa has worked with parents in many capacities since 1992. After graduating from the University of Montana in 1991 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, she began working for Montana State University in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. However, the need to work more closely with families in the area of parenting moved her on to the Futures Teen Parenting Program, and she began facilitating the Nurturing Program for teen parents in 1995.

In 2001 Teresa had a wonderful opportunity to become the executive director of The Parenting Place in Missoula, MT, and to continue facilitating the Nurturing Program with a wider population of families throughout the community. She has now been facilitating the Nurturing Parenting Programs for twelve years.

Thirteen years ago, Teresa and her daughter Heather joined forces with Dave and his three children, Jeb, David Jr. and Jauna. As a blended family they have incorporated much of the Nurturing Program philosophy into their own lives, managing to survive the many challenges of blending families. Teresa's role as a parent has always been her number one priority, matched only in the last 7 years by her role as a grandparent to Spencer, Zoe, Jace, Kaylob, Keygan, Kyle, Vanessa and Jesse.
