Nurturing Parenting for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
Nurturing Parenting for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.

Stephen Montoya

I began my journey to nurturing parenting 18 years ago. I was a single father of two toddlers and struggling with child care and parenting. The skills modeled by my parents were not what I wanted to give to my kids. I became involved with a parenting program that taught me how to nurture and really care for my kids. The Nurturing Program enabled me to have a great relationship with my own kids and set boundaries that were age appropriate. I volunteered first with the Nurturing Program and watched my children embrace the ideas presented in the program when I began using the techniques with them. The feelings work helped me to model expression of feelings, always a struggle for many men. The relationships that have improved due to the Nurturing Program have convinced me that this program really works and I have my own family to prove it. As a military kid, I was raised on many military bases and got to see many places, but did not get all that I needed. The Nurturing Program filled in the gaps and made me a better parent to my kids.

As a facilitator, and now a trainer of the program, I am able to assist other families in having great relationships within their families. I live, play and work on the Colorado Front Range but will go where asked to provide the Nurturing Parenting Program.
