Maxine
is a mother of four children, which includes twin boys, and the grandmother of
six. She and her husband, Charles, who is a minister, are very active in their
church and their community. Maxine received her degrees, BA in Psychology
and Masters in Social Work from Norfolk State University. She has over 25 years
of experience working in human services, assisting families dealing with issues
centering on domestic violence, child abuse, and parenting. After attending
her very first training with Dr. Bavolek, she became very fascinated with the
philosophy and the unique curriculum of the Nurturing Parenting Programs, so much
so, that she decided that she not only wanted to learn more about the programs,
but to become a trainer. Working with the Navy New Parent Support Home Visitation
Program provided her with the opportunity to learn more about the Nurturing Program
and to have an active role in the implementation of the Nurturing Program for
all of its Home Visiting Teams, she has provided consultation to other staff concerning
the program. Maxine is a very high energy individual, which is evidenced
in her trainings. She exemplifies the importance of nurturing yourself, so you
are able to nurture others. This compassion is demonstrated in her presentations
and her interactions with others.
