Donna LaTour-Elefante
Donna
LaTour-Elefante is founder and executive director
of the Family Nurturing Center of Central NY, Inc.,
a private not-for-profit corporation devoted to providing
family education and support programs and services
for parents, children, adolescents, and individuals
throughout Central New York.
Ms. LaTour-Elefante is a Nationally Recognized Trainer/Consultant
in the Nurturing Parenting Programs, a member of the
International Nurturing Collaborative Council, a Child
Life Therapist, and has been involved with the Nurturing
Parenting Programs since 1987. She has a bachelor's
degrees in both education and in psychology / child
life therapy and is working toward a master's degree
in child and family studies at Syracuse University.
Ms. LaTour-Elefante has extensive experience in providing
special trainings and workshops in the prevention
and treatment of child abuse and neglect; and she
has traveled through the country to train professionals
who work with families and those who now implement
the highly-effective Nurturing Parenting Programs.
She is responsible for introducing the Nurturing
Parenting Programs for Parents and Their Children
to New York State, and participated in piloting both
the Nurturing Program for Parents With Special Learning
Needs, and the Nurturing Program for Foster/Adoptive
Parents and Their Blended Families.
Through the Family Nurturing Center, Ms. LaTour-Elefante
has provided Nurturing Parenting Programs for Parents
and Their Children ages birth to 18 years, and continues
to offer trainings, workshops, and staff development
in-services in nurturing skills.
