Carmen
Mercier was born and raised in the small Oregon community
of Grand Ronde. She is a tribal member of the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde and has worked with tribal families
and children for 22 years.
Carmen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Social
&
Behavioral Sciences at Linfield College in McMinnville,
Oregon.
As Prevention Specialist for the Indian Child Welfare
Program, Carmen assisted families in developing a
safe home environment for children who were at risk
of abuse or neglect. She provided intensive family
services to include in-home parenting skills training,
home and health safety education, money management
and resource referrals.
For the past two years, Carmen has been providing
consultation and facilitation services for the community-based
Nurturing Parenting Program in Grand Ronde.
