Candice Camper

For Candice Camper each group begins with the thought that nothing is worth learning unless you can have a good time learning it. As she and her children have experienced (through much trial and some error) fun learning is easy learning. Candice's enthusiasm as a mother of three is reflected in her approach to both educating parents and training facilitators.

Candice had the opportunity to work with runaway and homeless adolescents, as well as children with disabilities while obtaining her degree in social work. However, it wasn't until after her degree was completed that she found her passion for working in early childhood parent education. In the last seven years, Candice has worked with several parenting curricula. She has chosen the nurturing program as the best fit with her personal and professional philosophy. That philosophy resonates with Candice's belief in the legitimacy of treating each family as an integral piece of the community.

Candice has implemented four of the Nurturing Program curricula with the Bannock Youth Foundation: Nurturing Program for Parents with Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers, the Nurturing Program for Prenatal Families, the Nurturing Program for Parents and Adolescents and the Nurturing Program for Families in Recovery. In addition to regularly facilitating several of these programs, she is also the coordinator for the Pocatello BabySteps Program: an education and incentive program for pregnant families and families with babies up to 18 months old. Candice's true passion for preventing abuse and neglect in young families carries throughout her own family and all of the families that she has the privilege to work with.

The opportunity to help other organizations establish the Nurturing Program in their communities has long been a goal of Candice's. She is very fortunate in that she shares the position of trainer with her two friends and co-workers, Heather Kemp and Amy Christensen. The prospective co-facilitation is an exciting one for Candice as they play well off of each others' strengths.
