Genesee Intermediate School District has implemented
the Nurturing Parenting Program since 1996. Our facilitators
provide the program in the school environment for
parents and their children. GISD has experience in
implementing the Infant, Toddler, and Preschool, School-Age,
Teen Parent, Parent and Adolescent and ABC's of Nurturing
Programs. We also work with fathers and parents of
special needs children using the Nurturing Parenting
Program concepts. We are available to consult on setting
up school-based services to families and using the
Program as primary prevention. GISD hosts trainings
provided by Pat Crum, Nurturing Parenting Program
National Trainer/Consultant.
The Nurturing Program is provided through Health
Safety and Nutrition Services at GISD. It is part
of a comprehensive school health program, addressing
the emotional health of students and parents. Gloria
Bourdon, Ed.S. We staff 18 highly trained part-time
parent educators.
