Barbara
Buie, LCSW, is a Therapist at the Luling Shelter of Baptist Child and Family Services.
Ms. Buie has been a Nurturing Program trainer in the state of Texas since 2004.
She has facilitated and coordinated Nurturing Parenting programs since 2001. She
provides one on one parenting, home based or group parenting, nurturing skills,
play therapy, and individual and family counseling within the rural communities
surrounding Austin. Barbara provides training for Early Childhood Intervention
and foster parents. She was previously the Coordinator for the Kyle location of
Casa Esperanza, Center for Children and Families at Texas State University-San
Marcos. Barbara was previously the Director of the Rural AIDS Services Program
at the beginning of the HIV epidemic. She has worked with the elderly population
in home health care; volunteered and served as a board member of a Family Crisis
Center; interned at Child Protective Services; and volunteered with probation
and foster care sibling reunification programs. She has over 20 years experience
working in social service settings with children and families from diverse backgrounds;
child abuse; family violence; substance abuse; mental health, medical issues;
and infant mental health. Barbara received her Masters in Clinical Social
Work from Texas State University-San Marcos. She is married with 5 children and
