Linda Huffaker

Linda Huffaker is a nationally recognized Nurturing Parenting trainer/consultant with Fairbanks Counseling and Adoption’s, Family Services Program. She has been facilitating Nurturing Parenting Programs for the past six years. This program is highly regarded in the community and classes are always full. She facilitates groups both at her agency and a local high school’s program, for pregnant and parenting teens.

Linda has 29 years experience working in the social service sector in the areas of family advocacy, parenting instruction, developmental disabilities, school to work transition, employment counseling, substance abuse treatment and therapeutic foster care. Linda is Fairbanks Counseling and Adoption’s Family Services Program Manager. She is currently attending the University of Phoenix to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services.

Shortly after her twenty-first birthday, Linda applied for her first foster care license and has been a licensed foster parent ever since. She has been a mother in some capacity to 116 children, so far: 108 foster children, two by marriage, two by adoption and four by birth. Motherhood is her passion and greatest honor. She is also blessed to have ten grandchildren. Linda was humbled and honored in 2005 to receive the “Angels in Adoption Award”, a congressional award for extraordinary contribution on behalf of children, which was presented to her by Senator Lisa Murkowski. Inside the front door of her home hangs a sign that reads, “When You Are Here, You Are Family”. Linda states, “I have lived my life to love, uplift and serve whoever has been placed in my path and will continue to do so as long as I am able.” It is her intense love for children and family that drives, motivates and inspires her.

Linda is a firm believer in the philosophy of the Nurturing Parenting Programs and has witnessed the positive effect this program has on families. Her future goal is to travel to remote Alaskan Villages to introduce the Nurturing Parent program, and train new facilitators.
