Create a Competency Based Nurturing Parenting Program from 80 Individual Lessons that meets the Specific Parenting Needs of Families.

In the Nurturing Skills for Families™ Program, professionals have the flexibility of tailoring a specific Nurturing Program to meet the assessed parenting needs of families while maintaining the fidelity of the philosophy and model of Nurturing Parenting.

  • Nurturing Skills for Families™ is an innovative approach designed to empower parents and parent educators in creating customized, competency based parenting programs to meet the specific needs of families.
  • Nurturing Skills for Families consists of 80 lessons, each lasting between sixty to ninety minutes lessons from the evidenced-based Nurturing Parenting Programs for Parents and Their Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers®, and Parents and Their School Age Children®.
  • Parents comp0lete the Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI-2) and the Nurturing Skills Competency Scale (NSCS) to measure parenting beliefs, knowledge and skills.
  • Based on the assessed needs of the family, parents and parent educators work together and select competency based lessons from the curriculum to form a parenting program that is customized to meet the specific needs of the families.
  • Lessons can be taught in a home setting, in a group setting, or in a combination group and home setting.
  • The Family Nurturing Plan (FNP) promotes a partnership between parents and professionals to work together in creating a parenting program that meets the specific needs of the family.
  • Parents need to demonstrate competence in the Core Lessons that form the foundation of Nurturing Parenting.
  • Tailor-made parenting programs increase parental commitment in attending and participating in learning nurturing parenting beliefs, knowledge and skills.
