A Program Guide that teaches nurturing parenting with the understanding of African-American history, traditions, practices, and beliefs.

The Sessions

  • Can be offered prior to or during your Nurturing Parenting Program to enhance learning new parenting skills.
  • Utilizes discussion, role-play and art.

The Content

Each content area contains four 1 ½ to 2 hour activities for a total of 32 hours of education.

  • Transcending Oppression and Teaching Dual Consciousness
  • Spirituality and the Black Church
  • Teaching Children to Access Resources

The Manual

  • Designed as a supplement to parent education programs, or as a stand-alone program.

  • Understand how Black American history influences parenting and child-rearing practices of Black Americans.
